I am trying to learn the OrCAD capture suiet, Demo version. I am going through the tutorial. Page 41 of "demotut.pdf" tutorial says
"1 From the PSpice menu in Capture, choose New Simulation Profile."
However, there is no 'PSpice' menu anywhere in the OrCAD Capture program. Am I wrong? Is the tutorial wrong? Where do you create a new simulation in the Capture program?
So, I went to PSpice itself... When I try to create a new simulation from the actual PSpice application, I can choose 'New Simulation' menu item. I get a dialog box. But the Inherit From box is a file selection box, and the tutorial tells me that it's a drop down and I should select 'none'. So I leave it blank. However it gives me an error saying that "The Inherit From field is empty...', so it is impossible to create a new simulation file without already having one. This is a 'which is first, the chicken or the egg' dillemma.
Where am I not getting this? Can someone steer me in the correct direction?
On page 13 you missed the instruction to create a "Mixed A/D" project so your project is not enabled for simulation so you don't have a PSpice menu for simulation. Since you may or may not have selected schematic parts with simulation properties attatched, you may be better off starting again with the correct project type.

Yup! That was it. My error.
