I use auto silkscreen to generate the silkscreen to avoid the pads/pins, but for filled shapes (package geometry/silkscreen), it just simply skipped without generating anything. Anyone has solution on this?
In Allegro, is there any tool that I can erase a part of silkscreen (like an eraser)? Say I have a line or a shape that goes on top of a pad and I want to erase that overlapped portion, but keep the rest.
Auto Silkscreen only works with Lines and Text but not shapes (filled or unfilled). It has been this way for a while and over the years I have always developed silkscreen outlines in the component library with lines instead of shapes so I have the option to utilize the Auto-Silkscreen routine.
Suggested approach is to convert the shapes to lines in the package symbol and refresh the symbol on your design.
The non-recommended approach is to convert the shapes to lines at the Board Level (.brd) using Shape > Decompose Shape but the resulting lines will no longer be associated with the package symbol. Also it will only convert the shape outline to lines which means if the shape is filled it will convert to unfilled.
Hope this helps,Mike Catrambone
