I realize that I have been quite remiss in that I have not yet blogged about the new all-singing all-dancing ViVA waveform viewer which was released in IC6.1.5 back in January. All right, it doesn't really sing and dance -- but would you really want it to? Really? Submit an enhancement request and we'll see what we can do...
In the meantime, I can tell you that ViVA (oh, that's Virtuoso Visualization and Analysis for the acronymically challenged) -- the waveform viewer used in the Analog Design Environment L/XL/GXL -- has been rewritten from the ground up with the objectives of providing excellent performance, capacity and usability for all manner of waveform viewing and analysis tasks. Feedback from customers so far is that we have largely achieved those objectives.
So go ahead and give it a spin and see what you think. As with other Virtuoso IC6.1 applications, when in doubt, RMB (for those who haven't been following along, that means try clicking the right mouse button). ViVA also allows drag-and-drop (DnD) operations on waveforms for many tasks.

Some things that may not be so obvious in the tool are the wide variety of bindkeys and keyboard shortcuts available to perform common actions. So, voila! Here you have the coveted secret decoder ring for ViVA bindkeys, shortcuts and icons. Print it out, keep it handy, make copies for your friends. I'm sure you could even have it printed on your coffee mug for a nominal fee...

At the project level all Engineers share a common link to a .cdsenv but I wish to customize
the ViVa waveform view, mainly the font and font size. Can someone advise?
Apart from the usual GUI changes , i find the ADE XL pretty neat. I have just started a project and this would be the first time for me using corner simulations, and i have ineed found variety of tools which help the designers to great extent. similicity in using the sweep simulations (corner simulations), improved simulation result storing etc. I havnt looked back to ADE after using the XL version.
Although it has been a good experience using ADE XL , there have been few hicups and indded Cadence could improve them greatly. Specially the current probing in the schematic still reamans an issue. you can still do it, but it isnt as intutive as other tools in the market, adn designer tends to focus on the net Voltages inorder to avoid the current probing.
