NUREMBERG, Germany--Enticing the next generation of engineers into the EDA and IP sector is a relentless challenge in an age in which competition looms from consumer electronics system companies. For people like Patrick Haspel, however, it's what gets him out of bed every day.
I met with Haspel at Embedded World 2015, where we talked about the eight-year-old Cadence Academic Network and the company's efforts to lure high-energy, smart young engineers into our enabling world. The occasion was Student Day at Embedded World, where some young people traveled all night by bus to attend and hear about opportunities from Cadence and other electronics companies.
