At risk of being lost in all the excitement of DVCon 2009 last week, my colleagues on the VIP Team announced a truly unique experiment, where the whole MIPI Verification IP product is available to try out now in the Xuropa Online Lab. The important thing to note is that this is not some cheesy Flash demo, or a video of an AE giving a demonstration. The Xuropa Online Lab is hosting the real product for you to run and interact with live, including every aspect of the MIPI protocol: SLIMbus, CSI, PHY, DSI, UniPro, and DigRF -- the whole enchilada.In the following video my colleage Susan Peterson and Xuropa's James Colgan elaborate on this offering more detail:

Taking a step back:While I concede this is a very Cadence-Xuropa self-promotional post, you have to admit this whole "online lab" experiment is an interesting one from the general perspective of "using the internet to enable people to do something that can be expensive to do effectively in-person". As James notes in the video, the goal is to have the site be 24/7 trade show that you can experience on your own terms, and get the information you need without having to beg your boss for travel authorization. As such, if you try the lab -- if only in the interest of science -- please let us know if the experience "worked", and/or what can be improved to make it more valuable to you.
