Welcome to the new Industry Insights site of the Cadence Community! In this site, we’ll explore issues and technologies of interest to IC and systems designers and design managers from an industry-wide perspective. This blog will offer timely commentary on such issues as emerging EDA technologies, trends in IC design and manufacturing, design technology R&D, EDA business models, significant standards efforts and much more. The site will include commentary on significant news developments as well as relevant conference presentations and panels. A list of potential topics will be provided in a subsequent blog posting.
Some postings will be written by me as senior manager for technical communications here at Cadence. (By way of introduction, I have been writing about EDA since 1985, and I have worked for publications including Computer Design, EE Times and SCDsource.com). In addition to myself, the Industry Insights blog will also feature contributions from across the EDA, semiconductor and electronics industries including partners and customers. And of course you are very much encouraged to contribute with your comments.
Why such a blog, and why here on Cadence.com? One reason is the reduced amount of trade press coverage about critical issues facing IC and system designers. There is an information gap at a time when design teams need information more than ever. Thus, major vendors are taking a more active role in communications, gravitating towards a “vendor-as-publisher” model that may involve traditional content such as contributed articles, whitepapers, and conference papers, as well as “new media” content such as interactive blogs, on-line newsletters, video and audio clips, and podcasts. Cadence has already started down this path with its Cadence Community blogs and forums.
This blog complements, but does not replace, existing interactions that Cadence has with the independent trade press. Cadence, for example, will continue to contribute technical articles and viewpoints to existing publications and web sites.
My objective here at Cadence is to increase the quality and depth of the technical conversation – and it is increasingly a two-way conversation – between Cadence and a worldwide audience of IC and system designers. This Industry Insights blog site is part of that effort. We welcome your comments, suggestions and feedback.
It is nice to see EDA's original literary champion back in print. A nice counterpoint to my blog: http://dnenni.wordpress.com/
Nice to see you back. I have always enjoyed reading your commentary,
Great to have you back among us EDA aficianados!
Best wishes at Cadence!
I'm glad to see you back in action, and am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on EDA.
I agree with Dennis, I also look forward to your insights. I have faith in the solid base that you have written from over the years and was hoping that you would find a good place as an outlet. Good on Cadence! Wise move!
This is a smart move.
We all need new reasons to live, work and play EDA insightfully.
Nice to see you here Richard! I've read many of your articles in various trade publications over the years. I look forward to your perspective about how Cadence solutions, business developments, and direction are leveraged in the future.
Nice to hear from you. I look forward to your insights.
