"There are times, for various reasons that a user may want to change the origin (0,0) of a design. Most new users will naturally attempt to do this by using the Edit -> Move command, by selecting all the elements in the design, and then physically moving them from one location to the new location. For small designs this would be acceptable, however, on a large design this may take a long time to complete. A more efficient way to accomplish this would be to use the MOVE ORIGIN fields located under Setup -> Drawing Size... To use this correctly, first determine the x,y coordinates for the new origin. For example, let's say that the new origin should be at -4150,2340. To change the origin do the following... o Setup -> Drawing Size... o double-click to highlight the X field under MOVE ORIGIN o type in the new x coordinate -4150 [u]and then hit enter.[/u] NOTE: after you have hit enter, the X field will reflect back 0 o now double-click in the Y field and type in the new y coordinate 2340 [u]and then hit enter.[/u] Once again the Y field will reflect back 0. o Now select OK to close the form. Your origin will be quickly changed. Verify this by going to your new origin in the design.
Yes.Its working.Many times, I was changing the origin only by moving the entire design as you've said.This method is very helpful.Thanks a lot.
Hmmm...I guess I learned this on day 1 of Allegro 15 yrs ago...never thought about doing it the 'hard' way. :)

There are three ways to change the origin:
1. Move origin to a point you select with the mouse (easiest)Select Setup --> Change Origin, then left mouse button on the new location where you want the origin.
2. Move origin to a new XY location relative to current oneSelect Setup --> Change OriginClick on the "P" button located at the bottom edge of the display canvasEnter values for the X and Y (for example 1.2, 2.2) and then click "Pick"
3. Move origin to a pin origin, or hole origin, etc.Select Setup --> Change OriginHover over the element to snap to, such as a pin or a mounting holeClick the right mouse button --> Snap pick to --> Pin or other element
