We recently got new hardware and Allegro (16.3) will hang on occasion with the hew nardware. Has anybody else experienced this.
New Hardware is Dell Precision T5500 running XP with Nvidia Quadro 2000 display cards, we are using the latest drivers qualified by Dell.
The probelm seems to be related to OpenGL as it hasen't happen when OpenGL is disabled but we don't want to work this way.
We can be simply zooming in/out or panning and Allegro will freeze up.
I will take any and all feedback, we are considering switching out the Video card.
Try getting the latest video drivers from Nvidia direct. Also try disabling the opengl from user preferences, this might narrow down whether the issue is graphics related.

We have tried disabling OpenGL and this seems to solve the problem, that's what has led us to believe it's the Video Card. Unfortinately we all really prefer to use OpenGL and not go backwards so we're hoping to solve this. Our IT guy is trying some stuff and one of the things we'll be trying is loading the latest drive from Nvidia but we are trying a few other things first trying to narrow it down.

Did you find a driver for your Quadro 2000 that works with OpenGL turned on in OrCad? I'm experiencing the same issue. I'm running OrCad 16.6 and my Quadro 2000 drivers are 18.104.22.1687.
