When I'm generating 3D image of board for enclosure purpose the image appears like as in attached image. But it's not an exact image we can see after assembly of all parts, i mean an image like as a photo of the assembled board and the image is confusing the MCAD person. How can I generate an exact image in Allegro?
Thanks in advance,
16.6 Hotfix 6 now has the ability to export and import STEP files. You can setup a library of step models and map them directly. Take a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD5zX5_pAbw for an insight.

What version on Allegro are you running, I am using Orcad PCB Designer Professional
16.6 hotfix 6 and I do not see the Step Mapping feature under Setup?

I have never tried Orcad PCB Designer Professional before. But I do believe that dealing with 3D Image generating problem with the halp of some professional Image manager can make all the process much simpler and faster. I am also testing the related Imaging SDKs these days. I will try your sharing later.
Can anyone please share me how to create the 3D image of my board file?.I want a 3D image of board file with and without assembling part.

I totally agree with you.A fine tool would help a lot in image processing issues.I am looking for a powerful image program which supports to do that directly. And i want to know that if you know any free trial package from image program. Thanks a lot

As mentioned earlier you do not need any other tools to get an accurate 3D view of your PCB. Get the latest version of Allegro / OrCAD PCB Editor 16.6 at least s006 but there are better improvements for mapping STEP models in S021. You can then use this as a very accurate 3D view of your board.
