I'm generating a footprint for a cylindrical connector that has 61 pins where each pin has a specific x/y location that is not on a grid. I see that there is a command under File>Import called "CSV Pin File". I am making the assumption that by using this command I can point to a CSV file that contains the pin number and coordinate for each pin.
I'm looking for a clue as to how to set up the CSV file. When I search the "help" files I don't seem to find any info on using this command. I have searched through the help files for mayn things related to importing CSV files such as CSV Pin import, File Import CSV, Green Cows, etc....... all returned nothing useful. I have even clicked on the "help" button in the CSV Pin file input dialog box, but that just takes me to a general page of commands by letter.
I'm sure this is probably a very simple process, I just need to know the required format of data in the CSV file.
The csv format needs to be:-
<pin number, padstack name, x position, y position, rotation, text offset x, text offset y, text rotate, mirror>
In reply to steve:
Now the $2 question, where did you find this info?
In reply to TH Designs:
What is the syntax for "mirror"? Y/N or True/False, or.....?
From File - Export - CSV Pin File from an existing dra....
The mirror is for text mirror m for mirrored and blank for not mirrored.
Steve, Worked like a charm (after I fixed my typos........)
Much easier then trying to place the pins manually.
I use PCB-Designer 16.5 and don't find File->Import->CSV. Do I need Part Designer?
In reply to Bummibaer:
you need 16.6
