On occasion I run into a client who has an old Allegro board file that was created on a UNIX (AIX) platform and needs to uprev to a higher version. I have the windows based Allegro which only will uprev from version 12. Does anyone know how or who can take an older rev (like 5.1) and uprev to at least version 11?
I have never uprev'd an AIX (UNIX) design but I believe that anyone running Allegro on Solaris (UNIX) should be able to uprev the design for you. There was a time that you needed to convert the Allegro database to its ASCII equivalent by running TEXTDB on the database prior to moving between platforms but I thought that was isolated to the DECstation Platform only.Note: TEXTDB was a program that was part of the Cadence tools.There have been major advances and changes in the way rules are stored in the design so you may see DRC errors after uprev that you did not have before.If you don't have a friend that is using Solaris to give it a try I would contact Cadence to see if they could do you the favor.
