My company recently bought a license of PCB Designer that includes the Capture and the Allegro PCB Designer.
My problem is that I'm trying to generate the 3 output files for the
PCB Designer, in the PCB Editor tab of the Netlist command in
Capture...when I enter the Setup dialog and select the configuration
file, I press Edit and then an error message box arises telling me that
"O parâmetro é incorrect" (in english, something like "The parameter is
incorrect"). Then nothing happens :(
I've already worked a lot with Orcad Layout and never got this kind of
problem and that makes me wonder if it isn't just a matter related to
Hi,My first question would be ..why are you trying to edit the configuration file ?It is actually ,only a mapping file that is used to pass properties back and forth between Capture and Allegro PCB Editor. If you have have previously generated a netlist , the configuration file you used is listed. If not, by default ,latest *.CFG file in your design directory is used. If there is no configuration file in your design directory, the default will be use the ALLEGRO.CFG file that was installed with Capture. My suggestion would be... do not edit the configuration file and use the default *.cfg file while the netlist is being generated.Regards,Prajakta.
Thanks for your feedback,Actually I'm not trying to edit the .cfg file. I just pressed the Setup button to see if the .cfg was selected, because the 3 netlist files weren't (and aren't) being generated. At home I have the 15.2 version and no trouble happens when I try to generate the netlist files...
Hello , Can you just elaborate, what error message you get ,when you are trying to generate the netlist files ( message in your session log ) or are you getting the same message that you have mentioned in your earlier post ?("The parameter is incorrect )Regards,Prajakta.
Hi again,I'm still getting the same messagem when I try to edit the default allegro.cfg file. The weird thing is that in the session log there is no error message. The technical support told me to reinstall the software. However I'm not sure it will solve the problem...Thanks for the repliesspeeder.
Why are you messing with the .CFG that is not your issue, your problem is that the netlist generator is not seeing your design. make sure your design is setup as per the tutorial and try agian if this doesn't generate a log message then look to see that you have setup the lisence manager correctly. If you can't find the problem than reload the package as stated above.
The problem was actually about the .cfg file...The thing is that this OS is Windows Vista (I hate it by the way) and so it has different default properties about files than XP. What happened was that PCB Editor couldn't read from that file. Changing them solved the issue. Thanks for the concert btw :)

Hi This problem is related to the security settings in Vista. If you run in admin mode the netlist will generate. RegardsBillZ EMA Design Automation

I have a similar issue with SPB16.3. My install was working, but now will not netlist for Allegro. I have reinstalled it twice, including the latest Hotfix I have. There is no output in the Session window when I try to run it and all of the configuration fields get cleared every time I start it.
I can select the .cfg file, but when I try to edit it, I get error ORPXLL~1 (The parameter is incorrect). I can't tell if an .exe file got correupted or what, but I can generate netlists for other file formats, which by the way, does me no good.

You may try running the following TCL command form the Capture command prompt and check if that solves the problem.
To run this command you need to install ISR # 28 or latter version.
In reply to utpalb:
When you sayCapture "command prompt", is this the session window?
Never mind, I found the command window.
I found the command window, but this did not fix the issue.
Have you tried running Capture as an administrator (RMB the icon - run as administrator), create a netlist, then close and launch capture as you would normally. This issue is normally down to the components being required to be registered and Windows 7 / Vista stop this from happening unless you are admin....

I have tried running as you mentioned, running as administrator. But when I run the netlist, nothting appears to happen, no warning, nothing is written in the session window.
Whatever program that it is attempting to execute does not run. And it appears to be specific to creating the netlist for Allegro. Would it be possible to get a details explaination of what happens for the function, so that I can verify there is not an issue with having the correct files loaded on the computer. I was having issues on one of the several time I reloaded the software where not all the files were being created.
