HI all,I have used a skill program from that forum that extract layer etch and draw it to the design.I have modified it to use the news api 16.x function. I also extract thikness inter layer etc. This is my first program so be gentle with me. I attach it and let me know if i need to change something before send it to cadence to review it. to use it, you just need to type XSection2 in your skill window. regardsJonathan

Try the attached.
I have added the thickness conversion, thickness formatting to user accuracy, fixed issue with index when adding the bounding rectangle.
Routine still called XSection2.

There seems to be a useful SKILL script here but the link is dead.
The link to the original attachment "Create_XSection_Figure.il" is not available on the community site for some reason. Here is the SKILL file attachmnet from the original post. Hopefully the resulting link will work and if not we have a SKILL forum problem.
OK. The attachment problem seems to be related to the ".il" extension so I added the SKILL file to a ZIP file, reattached and it is now availabIe. I dropped Cadence an additional email. Stay Tuned

This is a wonderful script
I have added some customization now
Here are the following things that will be done
1. Count the Layers ( will only work for even numbers)
2. Add the Dielectric Type(Name) inside the Dielectric Box (I left out Dk since it is variable)
3. If the layer is signal then it will have split shapes
(using Case statement instead of if and looking for the 2nd element inside the xsection data)
4. Added tolerance to the total thickness
I am attaching the materials.dat if you want to customize it (use as is)

I want to extract xsection for adding fab notes on pcb. I copied all files which you provide in zip file in my working directory.
when I run the script the following msg occurs
Script version: 16.01tLoading axlcore.cxt *Error* eval: undefined function - axlGetXSection
plz let me know what should I do

With 16.5, look under the Manufacture menu and try the "Cross Section Chart" command.
