The system admin at my university informed me that ASSURA has been replaced with the Physical Verification Package this year. I had some questions which I was hoping someone from Cadence support could answer.
- The foundry DRC deck files I am using Cadence Proprietary ASSURA deck and Skill formats and are meant for use only with ASSURA. Is there any way to makes these files work with PVS going forward?
-Also are there any RAKs detailing the use of ASSURA and PVS in an Analog-Mixed Signal design flow from Cadence support?
Note that you can use the PVS licenses to run Assura. So whilst the licenses have been changed there's no reason why you can't install Assura and use that for any process that only provides Assura rule decks.
There's a RAK on use of IPVS in Virtuoso, and some mentions of Assura in some of the RAKs (if my memory is correct) but not that much in specific rapid adoption kits on PVS or Assura, I think (I only did a quick search).
In reply to Andrew Beckett:
Hello Mr. Beckett,
Thanks for the update. Just some additional questions.
-Has support for hspiceD in ADE been discontinued or is it still supported?
In reply to mhkvy4:
It's still supported - and in fact has had enhancements. Not sure why you think it might have been discontinued?
Of course, that doesn't guarantee that it will be support by any specific foundry PDK - that's up to the supplier of that PDK.
That probably depends on the specific University agreement. Maybe the simulator wasn't included (it's not from Cadence) and so it wasn't worth having the interface. That would be a question for whatever organisation sorted out your university program. I believe it's still included in the Europractice portfolio for European Universities, for example.
Thanks Mr. Beckett. I got into touch with our system admin who contacted Cadence for the hspiceD license renewal. The issue has been resolved and hspiceD works now.
