I have a StringField, that looks like this:
hiCreateStringField( ?name 'Test ?prompt "Folder of Test File:.............................................." ?value mvalue ?invisible list(nil) ?callback "checkDirEx( )" )
where my callback-routine looks like that:
procedure(checkDirEx() prog(() if(!isDir(MyForm->Test->value) then if(hiDisplayAppDBox( ?name 'questMsgDBox ?dialogStyle 'modal ; wait for user-interaction before continuing ?dboxBanner "Directory not found" ?dboxText sprintf(nil "Warning: the entered path does not exist.\nWould you like to change it?" ) ?dialogType hicQuestionDialog ?buttonLayout 'YesNo)==t then Test->focus=t
) ) ))
Is there a way to set to Focus to a field?
Have you tried hiSetCurrentField?
In reply to Anton:
If I understand your question right you whant to set the
focus to one of the dialog box buttons 'Yes' or 'No'?
There is an argument for the 'hiDisplayAppDBox' function
Have a look at the 'Cadence User Interface SKILL Functions Reference',
Chapter 4, Dialog Boxes.
'Example, if the s_buttonLayout
argument is set to 'YesNo, and the x_defaultButton is set
the No button will be the default button.
Have a look at the
In reply to Bernd:
Thank you for your replies. The button-thing from Bernd is another thing I was looking for.
Actually, what I want, is that, if the user enters a path, that is detected as wrong or not existing - there is the DialogBox, that informs the user when he exits the path-Stringfield by clicking into or onto another element on the form.
Then, when he clicks on YES, the focus should be back in the path-stringfield instead of the element he clicked on.
The hiSetCurrentField(); doesn't work somehow - is there another thing that can do the trick or is there anything to beware of by using this function?

procedure( checkDirEx( r_formDataStruc )when( !hiIsInFieldCancel( ) if( isDir( r_formDataStruc->r_validStringField->value ) then hiHighlightField( r_formDataStruc 'r_validStringField 'background ) nil else hiHighlightField( r_formDataStruc 'r_validStringField 'error ) hiDisplayAppDBox( ?name 'warningDialog ?dboxBanner "Directory not found" ?dboxText strcat( "Warning: The entered path \"" r_formDataStruc->r_validStringField->value "\" does not exist.\n" ) ?dialogType hicWarningDialog ?buttonLayout 'Close ?callback "hiSetCurrentField( hiGetCurrentForm( ) 'r_validStringField )" ) t ) ;; close if) ;; close when) ;; close procedureprocedure( UIcreateMyForm( ) let( ( r_validStringField r_dummyStringField ) r_validStringField = hiCreateStringField( ?name 'r_validStringField ?prompt "Folder of test file: " ?value "" ?callback "checkDirEx( hiGetCurrentForm( ) )" ) r_dummyStringField = hiCreateStringField( ?name 'r_dummyStringField ?prompt "Just a dummy field: " ?value "" ) hiCreateAppForm( ?name '_myForm_ ?formTitle "Field Focus Test" ?initialSize list( 300 80 ) ?fields list( list( r_validStringField 15:5 250:25 120 ) list( r_dummyStringField 15:50 250:25 120 ) ) ?attachmentList list( ( hicLeftPositionSet| hicRightPositionSet ) ( hicLeftPositionSet| hicRightPositionSet ) ) )) ;; close let ) ;; close procedureprocedure( UIfieldFocusTest( ) unless( boundp( '_myForm_ ) && hiIsFormDisplayed( _myForm_ ) UIcreateMyForm( ) ) hiDisplayForm( _myForm_ ) ) ;; close procedure
Thanks for that solution Bernd.
I was wondering if the problem is, that if you exit the StringField by clicking into another Field
-1st: the callback routine is execute, where there is the command for setting the focus into the same Field, where the user just entered the "wrong text"
-2nd: the system handles the Click of the user afterwards and sets the focus in a diffrent field, where the user had clicked....
Maybe there could be a solution with a timer or something similar, although this seems like breaking a fly on the wheel.
