Hello! Everone, I have layout libraries which have drawn in cadence IC514 version tool..(CDBA)
Our tool was updated to IC6.. version, Now I would like to acess CDBA libraries in this new version tool (OA).
Can someone tell me a way to achieve this.
Thanks in Advance..
Prabhakar. K -- Layout Engineer
You need to convert them with cdb2oa. This is accessible via Tools->Conversion Toolbox in the CIW.
It's also wise to read the CDB To OpenAccess User Guide and Virtuoso Design Environment Adoption Guide, both in cdnshelp.
In reply to Andrew Beckett:
Hello! Mr. Andrew,
I have successfully converted all of my cdb libraries to OA libs... When I tried to open them it is giving license is not available...I asked my admin whether we have licence or not... He said we are still trying to set the license for layout....(schematic license we have)
Anyway, I am able able open them in read mode.... For my surprise, When I am checking my skill codes (ex: generate from schematic), I am able to create a layout cellview and I am able to place transistors through skill..
I would like to know, How it's happening even without layout licence?
Can you please, suggest an answer?
Thanks in Advance....

In reply to IC Layout:
Using certain low level SKILL functions (e.g. the db, dd, cdf, prefixed functions, to name a few) do not require a layout license. In IC61 you'll always need a Framework license (111) to use SKILL, but only layout-specific SKILL functions (those with le prefix) will require a layout license.
