I would like to know is there a way to use our Orcad EDM tool to autopopulate sections of a PCB titleblock.
In the EDM tool you create projects, is there a way to bring information from this tool to populate part numbers, revisions etc onto the titleblock of a titleblock format symbol or template automatically.
I think you need an external executable to make SQL data calls, as EDM is based on SQL. Haven't had the opportunity to use EDM yet(still keep DSNs in SVN and Git).
I had to build a program that previews the carnage caused by Part Manager (Update All) for engineers who just change the resistor value property.
Tcl code writes all part properties to a CSV file, then passes the filename and path as a parameter call to a VB executable. Excel file of things to fix before running part manager gets generated from CIS SQL calls.
Microsoft offers free licenses for the "Community" version of Visual Studio from their website. Side benefit is it helps minimize the code I need to write in Tcl, not my favorite programming language.
If you manage BOMs in CIP, the BOM table in the CIP data schema is ideal for titleblock information.
