When I use a standard via I get this following via symbol:
Can't see the difference between the drill, the pad and the keepout area (the whole surface of the via is filled with color).
In addition, when using this via inside a shape (the shape is from another net), there is no seperation of keepout cut at the shape of the other net (the shape in green):
Is the definition for the keepout is at the constraint manager, or in the via padstack file itself?
I mean to get this for example:
You need to go into the Setup function (Display) and turn on the 'holes' function. Right now you're display is set NOT to show the hole indication. Not sure what you're referring to 'the keepout area'. The keepout area is defined by your spacing constraints.
Thanks CadAce2K! your suggestion works.
Can you please advice which kind of constaint should be adjusted in order the via keep a round cutout from the shape (different net)?
In constraint manager I already have values from Thru Via.
First you want to make sure the Dynamic shape fill is applying: DISPLAY/STATUS - check that Dynamic fill is set to SMOOTH so it automatically applies.
Next check the shape to make sure it's updated: SELECT SHAPE; select the shape shown above; RMB Update Shape.
Third - make sure your 'via' is actually a 'thru via' in padstack editor. I could be defined as something other than a 'thru via'.
Lastly, if all else fails - go into Constraints Manager and turn on all the 'shape' constraints and make sure they're all the way you want them,
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! it works now.
