I work with ORCAD PCB Designer Professional 16.6. I tried to import gerbers from altium (with .GBL, . GBS, .GML, .GTL, .GTO, .GTP, .GTS) but I couldn't.
So, it is possible to import that altium gerber files to this version of PCB Editor?
If it is possible, how can I do that?
And if it is not possible, it is possible in other version of PCB Editor or do I need some tool independently PCB Editor version?
Hi. In my experience Orcad/Allegro is pretty finicky when it comes to importing gerbers. I've come to not even attempt it. Why don't you just get the Altium database and convert that? Good day.
I was once asked to convert an existing design that was only available as Gerber files and a schematic in paper form. I had to create the schematic again in OrCAD Capture and then used a gerber viewer that could export gerber to DXF. Then, using OrCAD PCB Editor, I imported the DXF into a new empty layer and used that as a background template for the converted design.
Allegro/Orcad PCB only supports gerber files which were exported by Allegro/Orcad... There are small format differences, like how the coordinates are stored. You can manually edit these to match the formatting of how Allegro would export it, but it takes some trial and error.
Some time ago I've made a gerber import in Skill. It does not work perfect so I cant share the code (yet). However if you send me the gerber data i can give it a try ?
Thanks. I want for panelize. What do you recommend use for panelize a board?
Thanks. I thought about doing the same but I didn't have time, so, I gave up.
