The X corresponds to the parameters of the model studied, while the Y corresponds to the output channels of the model analyzed. The X and Y data can be paired with some Xval - Yval data, i.e. some validation points which can be used as test cases to increase the model's prediction accuracy. All this data can be loaded from several .csv files, or from a single one with everything merged inside it. And thanks to the Data manager, it is possible to assign correctly which data is what and where should it go. In the below screenshot from the main interface, we can see on the left the Data manager, and in particular the tree/hierarchy organization for the different data X, Xval, Y and Yval. In this case, each data is saved in a dedicated .csv file. However, it is possible to load several files, each one containing only some (or simply one) case, as shown in the below screenshot: In this case, instead of loading one file containing the 15 result curves, there are 15 files loaded each one containing one result curves. These files are imported under the relevant branch of the tree as data sources. When clicking on a data source, the cells selected to be part of the final data are highlighted in green. It is possible to click on the corresponding branch to display the final that has been selected and collected within the data sources. This allows to define the data even if it is spread out into different files for each case of the database. It is important nonetheless that all the curves have the same number of points to enable the software to concatenate the data selected. On the opposite, it is also possible to organize the data even if it is merged into a single file. To do so, after selecting the data source, a right-click on the desired data will propose several options to easily select or deselect part of the data source, or move it from training part (X or Y) to validation part (Xval or Yval, respectively) or the opposite. It is also proposed to create a new Y output channel from the data. In the above screenshot, we have selected two rows to use as validation cases. The outcome is presented in the screenshots below: The two rows are unselected, and will not be used for training, and we can see that the data source has been copied into the Xval branch. If we click on it, we can see that only the two relevant rows are selected for validation, as visible in the screenshot below: This works within all branches of the Data manager: X, Xval, Y and Yval.

Forum Post: ODYSSEE CAE Data manager advanced capacities

Let's say my X and Y data is spread out into several .csv files, or merged into a single one. We will use the X and Y data to create a new project in ODYSSEE CAE. When the tool is launched, here is how the interface is presented: The top band indicates the order of the manipulations recommended to follow. In the step 1-Project, the top-left button allows to create a new project. When clicking on it, a window opens: In this window, there are a few fields to complete the project creation: type in the project name, specify the working directory (where your X and Y files are stored), and choose the location for the ODYSSEE CAE project folder (where ODYSSEE CAE will save its files). The ODYSSEE CAE project folder can be saved in a default path for all ODYSSEE CAE projects, or it can be saved in your working directory, close to your original data. Once this has been configured as desired, and button "OK" has been pressed, the project is created, and the Data manager automatically opens to complete the X part of the data. Within it, you can import your DOE .csv file thanks to the corresponding button. If you have an Xval file with some validation cases, you can also import it. To complete the Y part of the data, click on the "Y-YVAL Data" button in the Data manager tree. You can now press the button "import Datasets from Csv" and select the different result files, with one output channel/type per dataset. If you had imported validation cases for the X part, you will also need to import the corresponding Yval files. Before validating the data configuration, as soon as the DOE has been input to the software, it is possible to press the bottom left button "check data", which will look for eventual dependencies between the parameters and duplicated cases within the DOE, which should be removed before going further. Indeed, dependencies and/or duplicated are prompt to cause bad prediction results or generate errors. Once the X and Y data has been configured as wished, pressing the "validate data configuration" button will close the Data manager and display the datasets in the main window. To re-open the Data manager and re-configure the input data, you can press the top button (with a wrench) in step 2-Data of the top band. For more information and advanced techniques about the Data manager and data filling/completion, a dedicated thread will be opened.

Forum Post: How to create a new project in ODYSSEE CAE?

I have generated a DOE, I have created the models/simulations corresponding to the cases of my DOE, and I have collected the computation results from the different cases. The goal is to create one or several .csv files: each .csv file will contain the results for one output channel i.e. one particular result type. In each .csv file, the most common convention is to write the relevant result on a row for each simulation executed. As a consequence, at the end of the extraction process, all output .csv files will have as many lines as the DOE. To do so, we use the same tools as for creating and run the multiple models with different parameters values, as presented in this thread: How to create and run multiple models, each with different parameter values? - ODYSSEE Community Forum - ODYSSEE - Nexus Community The parsing tools not only allow to create and run the multiple models with different parameters values, they also allow to extract the results from the simulation output files, collect these, and group them together and write the corresponding .csv files, ready to be loaded into ODYSSEE and get started working on one's project with these. ODYSSEE proposes several parsing tools depending on the solver used to run the simulations: Nastran parser tool, to extract results from Nastran simulation output files under .h5 format LS-Dyna parser tool, to extract results from Ls-Dyna simulation output files under glstat, nodout, jntntforc, rcforc, rwforc, deforc, abstat, matsum, sbtout, nodfor, secforc, tprint, elout or dbfsi format Adams Car parser tool, to extract results from full-vehicle Adams Car simulations Pulsar generic parser tool, to extract results from any ASCII format output file Adams Results extraction tool, to extract results from Adams simulation output files under .res format The principle is often the same: Select the working directory, template model file and DOE. This is prepared in the Project setup section at the top left of the tool Configure the output channels to extract within the simulation results files, and eventually precise the desired nodes ID and min and max timestamps to extract. This comes right after (below) the Substitution setup, in the Extraction step section, at the upper middle left of the tool The output channel selection is based on keyword identification and output file hierarchy. Once the extraction is configured, click on "Run" at the middle bottom of the tool. This will create within the working directory as many .csv files as there are output channels requested in the configuration, and each .csv file will contain as many rows as there are Mi folders i.e. as many cases present in the DOE file. Each M folder will also contain the .csv files corresponding to the results that have been extracted from the relevant simulation run. The Nastran parser tool configuration (above) and LS-Dyna parser tool configuration (below) are almost identical. The Adams Car parser tool configuration is slightly different, as the user can extract only scalar objective output results. Pulsar generic parser tool is an independent tool which allows to extract data from any ASCII format file. The extraction is configured by position within the file: the user must select the field to extract, and can set a writing format for the value to be collected. Adams Results extraction tool is meant for extracting results from Adams .res files, completing thus the Adams Car parser tool. It also proposes options to re-interpolate curves or pad files so that all results of the output channel have the same number of points. Indeed, regardless of the nature of the data, output type or origin, it is important that all the simulations have the same number of points/columns for a same output channel, since ODYSSEE does not handle curves of a same nature/type with different lengths. However, between different output channels, the number of columns can be different: some output results from a first channel may be simple scalar values (in such case, the corresponding .csv file will contain a single column), some other output results from a second channel may be time-dependent curves with several points (corresponding to the measuring points along time - in such case, the corresponding .csv file will contain as many columns as measuring values).

Forum Post: After running the simulations, how to collect the results of the multiple models?

I have created a Design Of Experiments (DOE) which contains combinations of parameter values for the parameter(s) of my model that I want to study. Applied to the DOE you shared in your initial question, here is the resulting matrix after updating following the above solution: p1;p2;p3;p4 8.1;-1.3;-3.6;-1.7 4.6;2.9;-2.4;4.2 Then you should remove the cases where p2 or p3 or p4 is positive. I leave it to you to check if it works for your problem statement, you may also have min and max values for each of your parameters that must be respected, and should then be verified. Afterwards you can work with this updated DOE or transform the values back after checking all conditions are respected I hope all this clears things up and helps, and I hope that it makes sense and works for you. The best in such case is to generate a DOE larger than desired, and remove the points that do not respect the desired constraint. However this approach is not perfect neither, because it outbreaks the DOE homogeneity. We have a Quasar script that allows to automatically perform the manual operations presented above. You can find it in the ODYSSEE Solver / Quasar Examples document, which is available in your personal Documents directory, in the subfolder Odyssee\CAE\Examples\Quasar (default : C:\Users\username\Documents\Odyssee\CAE\Examples\Quasar). The relevant section is Advanced Examples > DOE with constraint > Generate a DOE with constraint. This section is followed by an example. The button "Configure from file" is not meant for receiving a Quasar script, but a .csv file. This .csv file has a particular format so that when loaded it automatically completes the parameters table in the DOE generator. The appropriate format is the following: parameter1Name;parameter1MinValue;parameter1MaxValue parameter2Name;parameter2MinValue;parameter2MaxValue parameter3Name;parameter3MinValue;parameter3MaxValue Attached is an example of such .csv file : nexus.hexagon.com/.../doeConfigFile.csv I hope all this clears things up and helps, and I hope that it makes sense and works for you. To access it, either click on "DOE" button in the main ribbon, or click on (top-menu) > Tools > DOE generator A new window appears Focusing on the Generate DOE section on the left, you can Add one or several parameter(s) depending on the number of parameters of your system. For each parameter, you can specify its name and min-max values. Finally, you can click on "Generate DOE" button to create the parameters values combinations. Going further, you can change the number of points to generate, as well as the DOE generation algorithm to use. You can also visualize the points of the DOE thanks to the scatter plots, as well as in PCA (Principal Component Analysis) scatter plots. When working on the DOE generation, there are some important points to keep in mind: The number of parameters and their ranges directly drive the size of the domain. If it is too small, the model will not allow much variation. If it is too large, it will be difficult to predict, a lot of sample points will be required to capture the system behaviors. The number of points drive how dense the domain is covered. If it is too small, the model may not be able to predict easily with a good level of accuracy. If it is too large, the model will take more time to predict. Depending on the system studied, some zones within the DOE may require more points to focus on a region which is more interesting for final processing, or where prediction might be more difficult due to versatile behaviors. DOE scatter plots and PCA scatter plots are useful to help to visualize the distribution of the points of the DOE generated.

Forum Post: How to generate a Design Of Experiments (DOE) in ODYSSEE CAE?

Once I know what are the parameters of my system, where and how to generate a Design Of Experiments (DOE) in ODYSSEE CAE ?

Forum Post: RE: How to get started in ODYSSEE CAE when I do not have any data?

Before even opening ODYSSEE CAE, the first thing to do is to think about the problem you are studying, and state it so that it is clear: What is the system analyzed? How does it overall behave? What are the parameters in input? What are the responses in output? How is the system modeled? (Finite Elements simulation, physical experience...) What is the final goal to achieve with the predictive model? (Export as FMU, look for an optimal result, predict animations...) It is very important to have a clear vision of the problem studied so that it can be easily stated and configured in ODYSSEE CAE. Once this has been drawn, there are 4 steps to follow: Generate a Design Of Experiments (DOE) i.e. a collection of parameters values combinations to represent the system possible variations, which will constitute the X part of the database. How to generate a Design Of Experiments (DOE) in ODYSSEE CAE? - ODYSSEE Community Forum - ODYSSEE - Nexus Community Run the models corresponding to these parameters values combinations. How to create and run multiple models, each with different parameter values? - ODYSSEE Community Forum - ODYSSEE - Nexus Community Extract the desired results from the models executed, which will complete the database with the Y part. After running the simulations, how to collect the results of the multiple models? - ODYSSEE Community Forum - ODYSSEE - Nexus Community Create the project in ODYSSEE CAE and fill the database in the Data manager. In particular, ODYSSEE CAE GUI examples are saved within this subfolder, in Lunar\examples (by default: C:\Program files\ODYSSEE\CAE\Documentation\Lunar\examples ). However, since installation directory often requires administrator privileges for writing and editing files and directories, a copy of the Documentation folder content is made in the user's default Documents directory, in ODYSSEE\CAE\Examples subfolder (by default: C:\Users\username\Documents\ODYSSEE\CAE\Examples ). Once more, in particular, ODYSSEE CAE GUI examples are saved within this subfolder, in Lunar (by default: C:\Users\username\Documents\ODYSSEE\CAE\Examples\Lunar ). This copy is created when the user launches the ODYSSEE CAE GUI for the first time. Since this copy is stored within the user's personal directory, its content can be modified as the user wishes without needing any administrator privileges, and new files can be written there as well.
