I'm an analog IC designer in Silicon Valley area. My current base salary is pretty decent (150k+) but I'm thinking of going for PHD.
I've been in this industry for about 5 years, but I often see that PHD carries weight in this community and those of who hold PHD get put on more difficult projects and receive more attention/appreciation from the team. Not only this, but also most of startup founders in chip-design field often hold PhD as well.
Currently I'm not interested in Academia after graduation but who knows?
I'm about to become 30 years old and I know it is quite late. but I would like to hear how other folks
