I`m relatively new to PCB Design in general and Cadence Allegro in particular and therefore I`ve encountered some problems. Many could be solved by reading this forum, however there is still one problem left.
I want to create the symbol of the LTM4628 DCDC converter by Linear as can be seen in this demonstration circuit on page 6:
For now I just need the symbol without the footprint. As you can see there are multiple identical pins, e.g. GND exists 54 times. How can I add these 54 pins? I could do it by defining a vector with 54 elements but then I still have to change every single text line from GND<X> to GND. There must be a better solution for this...
Thanks in advance,
OrCAD or Concept?
OrCAD just place array but don't use a start or increment -- be sure to choose power pin and visible.
In reply to redwire:
no, it is not OrCAD, I am talking about the Part Developer that comes with Cadence Allegro. I use it together with Design Entry HDL and the PCB Symbol Editor.
I have never heard of Concept before but I hope everyone understands what I am talking about.
In reply to matthias86:
Part Developer is a tool for the Concept design flow. DE HDL is someone's idea of marketing -- it's still Concept to those of us who have used it foever :)
I think you have to use multiple steps to accomplish what you are trying to do unfortunately. I'm a little rusty on this. Add the pins as a scalar from say GND1 to GND40. Then attach them to the symbol you want them to appear in. Then select the pins, edit, copy and paste the TEXT value back as GND.
Hopefully a Concept guru will jump in on this....
