Hi,We are new to Allegro PCB and we have Allgero PCB 15.7 L bundle. This is with schematic front end option of CIS.However, Cadence Allegro PCB L bundle is also available with schematic front end option of HDL.We want to know basic difference between CIS Vs HDL option. We read CIS and HDL data sheet, however, it was little difficult to comprehend. Can some experience user help in highlighting major diffrence of this two version? What are the specific application are for HDL version? And is there any version with both CIS and HDL version?Thanking you and with regards.
CIS is derived from the OrCAD drawing package. HDL is the new format for the Concept schematic package. The two produce drawings which can be used with Allegro but the formats are not interchangeable. Cadence has some support for library swapping between the tools. It is a personal preference for the tools. I prefer CIS as I find it is easy to manage and easy to learn.
I also found the datasheets somewhat unclear. Can anyone provide any more details about the differences between CIS and HDL? I have never used ORCAD--I have been using Mentor Graphics Boardstation for ~ 5 years.
Capture CIS is the Orcad schematic capture and parts manager tool, while Concept HDL is the Cadence Schematic tool. The Allegro PCB portion of the software is Identical. The difference is which format your schematic is in. If you are not using either Orcad Capture, or Concept for your schematic, either version will work equally.
