Academic Network at VLSI-DAT Symposium in Taiwan 2018

2018 was the second year Cadence Academic Network supported the VLSI-DAT Symposium in Hsinchu, Taiwan on April 16-18. We connected with around 500 attendees from local industry and academia. Taiwan is renowned as an IC design powerhouse. The VLSI DAT Symposium, which plays an important role in stimulating local research, is aimed at providing excellent opportunities for close interactions between industrial and scientific researchers via presentations and discussions on innovations and achievements related to VLSI design, automation, and test. 

At this event, Weibin Ding, Group Director and Head of Cadence DSG Global AI Center, gave an invited talk in the special session Machine Learning for EDA. His topic was "Machine Learning Further Improving Place and Route QoR". Weibin’s speech received very positive feedback, inspiring interactions with professors about machine learning in EDA and how Cadence uses it in its technology.   

During the event, Academic Network hosted a roundtable for R&D leaders and over 10 professors from top-tier universities in Taiwan and who interested in collaborating with Cadence on talent and AI research.  We will continue to work closely with Taiwan academia to build a sustaining ecosystem.
