Cadence Academic Network Welcomes AWR and EMX Users to Join Us!

At the beginning of 2020, Cadence made two big announcements, as part of the Intelligent System Design (ISD) Strategy, Cadence has acquired AWR from National Instruments and Integrand for their EM-solver EMX. This move strengthens Cadence’s competence for RF designs and system development, which goes as far as antenna design, made possible by AWR Microwave Office. Michael Thompson, one of the masterminds behind the ISD strategy, dives deeper into the impact of these acquisitions for Cadence: Common Goal for One Flow, Acquisitions Strengthen RF Flow.

The Cadence Academic Network would like to explain how we’ll be supporting the academic users of AWR and EMX software solutions.

For the academic users who are running license servers to access AWR software solutions, we have an amazing offer! We will offer you our updated Level 2 software package, which includes AWR and Cadence Windows software (Allegro, Sigrity, OrbitIO, SiP Designer) for the first year for free. This means you will be able to not only design RFIC modules and antennae, but also implement them using Allegro and even extract and simulate using Sigrity. If you’re only interested in AWR software, you can use the new introduced Level 3 package, which contains the AWR software you’re used to. In order to apply for the different packages, please write an email to universityprogram@cadence.com.

AWR users, who would like to use Cadence academic licenses are also welcome to apply for the Level 1 software package in order to receive all Cadence licenses and Cadence users who would like to use AWR, you can request to have the tools added to your bundle by emailing universityprogram@cadence.com.

AWR users who are using the self-licensing feature from AWR won’t experience a change at this time.

Existing academic EMX users who would like to continue using the technology, should apply for the University Program, which offers EMX in one of their Level 1 software package. The package includes all academic licenses, which we provide for tools that run on Linux. Please write to universityprogram@cadence.com to begin the application process.

If you would like to start using EMX tools and are an existing Cadence University Program member or academic user who gets their Cadence licenses through an academic distributor, please write to universityprogram@cadence.com.

Cadence Academic Network is offering much more besides the licenses. In order to virtually connect with other members of the network, AWR and EMX users can become a member of our RF Design and PCB Layout and Analysis LinkedIn groups, where we post valuable information about new online trainings, internship positions, conferences with Cadence Academic Network participation and other relevant material. For general information about Cadence Academic Network, please subscribe to our Main Page. You can also learn more about the Cadence Academic Network here.

Since you’re reading this article, you have found our Cadence Academic Network blog, where we blog about different topics around our activities.

We also participate in a variety of conferences, mainly CadenceLIVE, which will include  Academic Tracks at some of the conferences, so you can attend and present your topic of research or effective ways of educating using Cadence tools. Please contact us at academicnetwork@cadence.com for more information.

As members of the Cadence University Program, you can access Cadence Online Support and take advantage of the plenty of useful material about Cadence software available. Once integration is complete, users will also be able to access material related to AWR and Integrand. So, in order to get access to it, please write to universityprogram@cadence.com.

Students and faculty can also take self-paced Online Training courses free of charge and earn a Digital Badge to show mastery in a certain technology or skill.

If you want to reach out to us and discuss what we can do for you, please write us to academicnetwork@cadence.com. We are present in all regions where Cadence is operating and we do our best to serve academic community!
