Stay Ahead of the Curve with These Popular Online Training Courses

23 Apr 2020 • 4 minute read

As you’re approaching the end of the Netflix series you’re binging and you’re waiting for your puzzle to arrive in the mail, you might be asking yourself, what should I be doing to fill my time? Well we have a suggestion for you! We’ve talked about accessing Cadence tools remotely and the different ways you can use Cadence tools but now we want to take a deeper dive into how you can master Cadence tools through Online Training courses.

Since 2017, the Cadence Academic Network has made over 6,000 Online Trainings available to students and professors! To help out with your 2020 studies, we wanted to share the top 15 courses of 2019. The list represents a variety of technical areas and most of them even offer the opportunity to earn a Digital Badge (marked below), which can be shared on your resume, email signature or across social media platforms like LinkedIn.

Innovus Implementation System (Block)

Learn how to use the Innovus Implementation System software to achieve the best power, performance and area (PPA) for your design.

Genus Synthesis Solution

Learn about the features of the Cadence Genus Synthesis Solution with Stylus Common UI with next generation synthesis capabilities (massively parallel, tight correlation, RTL design focus and Architecture-level PPA) and how SoC design productivity gap is filled by Genus.

Basic Static Timing Analysis

Learn the basic concepts of static timing analysis and apply them to constrain a design.

Tempus Signoff Timing Analysis and Closure

Analyze a design for static timing and signal integrity issues, test parallel processing techniques and run Tempus ECO to analyze the timing issues on large designs at the signoff stage and fix them using the Innovus Implementation System.

SystemVerilog for Design and Verification

Get an in-depth introduction to the main SystemVerilog enhancements to the Verilog hardware description language (HDL), discusses the benefits of the new features, and demonstrates how design and verification can be more efficient and effective when using SystemVerilog constructs.

Virtuoso Schematic Editor

Create and edit schematics for use with the suite of Cadence simulation and layout tools.

SystemC Language Fundamentals

This course teaches the IEEE Standard 1666-2011 SystemC Language. You perform the lab exercises using the Incisive Enterprise Simulator XL.

SystemVerilog Advanced/Accelerated Verification Using UVM

This course teaches you UVM in exactly the same way as you would use the methodology in a real-life project.

Virtuoso Layout Design Basics

Learn the basic techniques for working with designs in the Virtuoso Layout Suite L environment. You explore the basics of the user interface and the user-interface assistants, which help select, navigate, search, highlight, edit and create physical designs.

Specman Fundamentals for Block-Level Environment Developers

Create an e language reusable block-level verification environment and simulate it with the Xcelium simulator and analyze the simulation with the SimVision graphical simulation analysis environment.

Virtuoso Analog Design Environment

Use the Virtuoso Analog Design Environment L software to set up and control analog and mixed-signal simulations.

Genus Synthesis Solution with Stylus Common UI

Learn about the features of the Cadence Genus Synthesis Solution with Stylus Common UI with next generation synthesis capabilities (massively parallel, tight correlation, RTL design focus and Architecture-level PPA) and how SoC design productivity gap is filled by Genus.

Virtuoso Analog Simulation: T1 The Virtuoso Analog Design XL Environment

Use the Virtuoso Analog Design Environment (ADE) XL and its corresponding assistants and workspaces to analyze transistor-level designs.

SKILL Language Programming Introduction

Locate SKILL examples, examine key concepts, and develop a foundation so you can use SKILL commands to automate your design environment.

Analog Modeling with Verilog-A

Use the Virtuoso ADE Explorer and Spectre Circuit Simulator to simulate analog circuits with Verilog-A models. Verilog-A is a high-level language that uses modules to describe the structure and behavior of analog systems and their components.

While exploring the Online Training courses, it would also be good to refer to the Learning Maps, which provide a comprehensive visual overview of the learning opportunities available. They provide recommended course flows as well as tool experience and knowledge levels to guide learners through a complete learning plan. Learning Maps cover all Cadence technologies and reference courses available worldwide. Keep an eye out for future blog posts where we break down the different learning flows of the top 15 courses.

Sometimes trying to find the technology you want to explore can feel overwhelming, luckily, Cadence has a couple of resources to make it easier. You can explore our series called Whiteboard Wednesdays to see what interests you or check out the Training Byte videos, which are short, instructional videos to learn tools, languages, and methodologies.

Continue your learning anywhere and anytime with these Online Training courses and you’ll be sure to make a lasting impression with peers and future employers.

How to enroll in Online Training:

All Online Training courses are available for self-enrollment on the Cadence Learning and Support system, located under the “Learning” tab.
