Back in May, Professor Gilles Jacquemod and 9 engineering students from Tianjin University who are currently visiting Sophia-Antipolis engineering school stopped by the Cadence office in Sophia, France. The students have been selected to participate in an exchange program in which they will spend 2 months studying electronics and computer science at Polytech Sophia. During this course, they will use Cadence tools to design an Analog Digital Converter.
The group was welcomed by Arnold Ginetti, Cadence CIC Fellow, who gave an introduction to EDA and Cadence, in Chinese. It was a first for Arnold who has been studying Mandarin for 3 years. The students appreciated the effort and were impressed with his Mandarin skills. Arnold's presentation was followed by Jacques-Olivier Piednoir, Virtuoso Advanced Custom Editing R&D, who gave a tour of the office while Olivier Omedes, CIC R&D, and Laurent Thenie, CIC PE, presented the technical challenges of advanced node manufacturing and its impact on custom layout tools. This topic was carefully chosen to trigger their curiosity for a career using electronics and computer science skills.
To end the day, everyone gathered outside for some drinks and home-made cakes prepared by Anne Montagne, Sophia site administrator. The students were very appreciative of the event and asked many questions about internships and employment with Cadence.
