Cadence Welcomes Cascade Technologies

1 Nov 2022 • 1 minute read

Cadence welcomes Cascade Technologies, an innovator in the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Staffed by experts, many with backgrounds originating at Stanford University (the Center for Turbulence Research and the Advanced Simulation and Computing Program), the company specializes in high-fidelity simulations of the most challenging fluid applications. The addition of Cascade Technologies’ software and expertise supports the Cadence Intelligent System Design strategy and is the latest example of Cadence’s investment in next-generation fluids simulation capabilities.

Cascade Technologies’ product line consists of an integrated suite of multiphysics simulation software that adds a new chapter to Cadence’s legacy of computational software and systems simulation. At the core of their software suite is the CFD flow solver CharLES. Encompassing low-speed, high-speed, and reacting flows, CharLES also tackles the challenging problem of accurate turbulent flow simulation with the advanced technique of wall-modeled large eddy simulation (WMLES). Cascade Technologies' software also exploits GPU and CPU acceleration leading to rapid turnaround time.

Large eddy simulation from Cascade Technologies' CharLES CFD solver

This large eddy simulation (LES) from Cascade Technologies' CharLES CFD solver reveals the fine details of the airflow that influences the lift, drag, and noise of an aircraft in landing configuration. Shown here is an engine nacelle and upper surface of a wing from the JAXA Standard Model.

We welcome the entire Cascade Technologies team to Cadence.
