Discover the Newest Version of Omnis Marine - Cadence's CFD Software that Functions as a Virtual Towing Tank

5 Oct 2021 • 1 minute read

The newest version of Omnis Marine - Cadence's CFD software specifically designed for Marine Engineers and Naval Architects - is out now.

Discover faster seakeeping calculations, coarse mesh initialization for resistance computations, speed-up of geometry preparation with the Rhino plugin, improved adaptive grid refinement, and more...

What's new?

C-Wizard Unleashed 2 Game-Changing Features

  • Seakeeping now becomes affordable for users with lighter hardware configurations. Unsteady simulations are reduced to half days with practically no loss in accuracy. Just try it!

  • Coarse mesh initialization for resistance computations: In a single click, mix the ease-of-use of the C-Wizard with systematic refinement criteria to get a project to use coarse mesh initialization. Note: this feature is still in BETA, since guidelines to generate coarse meshes are not yet completed.

Speed-up with Rhino-Plugin

This feature was expected by many users to speed up their geometry preparation. And here it is! Our Rhino plug-in now retrieves existing names from surfaces stored in layers. Icing on the cake: Even with surface modifications, running the plug-in again will still preserve the names.

Adaptive Grid Refinement Again Improved with New Functionalities

  • Introduction of the time-averaged criterion: This new option allows to perform time averaging of the criterion in order to adapt the grid. As such, the refinements become more stable in time, which is convenient for unsteady flows.
  • The systematic refinement criteria is now introduced to refine the whole grid at once. It gives users the opportunity to start the acceleration ramp on a coarse grid and to then converge the final solution on a finer grid. This “multigrid” approach reduces computational cost, especially for simulations with fine meshes and long transient accelerations.

And That’s Not All!

The convergence booster and checker are now part of the flow solver: This means that they are no longer instrumented through a dynamic library, removing possible conflicts with other dynamic libraries.

Modal approach: A new script is shared to retrieve the time history of the motion of any node in the structure.

We hope you enjoy this new version!

Try it Out!
