GPPS 2nd Turbomachinery CFD Workshop Evaluates RANS Solvers

12 Jul 2022 • 1 minute read

The Global Power and Propulsion Society (GPPS) explores key global drivers of the industry, such as the transition to new energy in Europe, the future impact of China’s One Belt One Road initiative, the future business and environmental transition of the aviation industry, and the global role of LNG as a transition fuel, continuously assessing future opportunities and risks. They organize events, being reactive to the world’s changes around us, to facilitate the exchange of ideas by thought leaders while expanding participants’ networks.

GGPS Turbomachinery CFD Workshop 2022The GPPS 2nd Turbomachinery CFD workshop, co-organized by Cadence, will take place as part of the GPPS Chania22 conference, on September 11, 2022. The workshop will be a hybrid event, while the technical conference will be in-person, taking place at Chania in Crete, Greece. The theme of the conference is "Shaping the Future by Climate-Neutral Power & Propulsion Technology".

CFD Workshop Objectives

RANS simulation is the industrial workhorse for predicting turbomachinery flows. This workshop aims to evaluate and improve users’ trust in RANS turbomachinery solvers by conducting a validation and verification (V&V) study on two cases:

  1. The TUDA-GLR-OpenStage transonic axial compressor
  2. The BUAA low speed large scale axial compressor-Stage B

How to participate

Participants are welcome to analyze the two cases, submit their prediction results, attend the workshop to present their results, and listen and learn from the discussions. No paper submission is required.

A step-by-step participation guide and a detailed description of both cases can be found from the workshop webpage: https://gpps.global/gpps-2nd-cfd-workshop/
