Highlights from the CadenceLIVE India CFD Track

26 Sep 2024 • 2 minute read

On September 13, CadenceLIVE India marked its second successful year in the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) domain, featuring an insightful CFD track at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Bangalore. The event showcased Cadence's remarkable expansion beyond electronic design automation (EDA) to include system and mechanical analysis software.

The CFD track included a series of enriching presentations and technology updates, all centered around Cadence CFD Technology. The lineup of the day included:

  • Technology update on the latest developments in Fidelity CFD
  • Customer presentations by Mercedes Benz, Garret Motion, Larsen and Toubro, and Jaguar Land Rover

  • Technical presentation on the simulation capabilities of Beta CAE
  • Insights on the innovative PCB thermal characterization using Celsius EC Solver
  • Preview into the future of AI-powered innovations in the data center tool, Cadence Reality DC Design

Kumar Srinivasan, Senior Technical Director, CFD Solutions at Cadence, gave an overview of Cadence's strategic direction, explaining the "3-layered cake" strategy. He also discussed Cadence acquisition of top CFD and mechanical design solution companies, highlighting their rapid growth.

Srinivasan also unveiled significant developments such as:

  • The potential of enabling AI using the Millennium Enterprise Multiphysics Platform, the industry’s first hardware/software (HW/SW) accelerated digital twin solution for multiphysics system design and analysis
  • Proprietary software technologies to accelerate high-fidelity CFD simulations on the Millennium M1 CFD supercomputer, the first generation of the Millennium Enterprise Multiphysics Platform
  • Details about Celsius EC Solver, focusing on electronics and component cooling
  • Implementing CFD-based shape optimization using geometric learning powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in the future

The event also highlighted Cadence's recent acquisition in the mechanical design solution domain through a presentation by Beta CAE on their industry-leading preprocessing technology- ANSA, widely used by the automotive industry, including Formula One (F1) racing teams.

As the event came to a close, Mercedes Benz took home the prize for best presentation, with their presentation on Efficient VOF Simulation to Capture Windage Losses Validation in Rotating Disks Using Fidelity LES.
