The Basics of CFD in 8 Weeks - Free Online Course
Learn the basics of CFD in eight classes across eight weeks and gain hands-on experience using commercial, flow-simulation software!
Lasting approx. 45 minutes per class, take part in each course unit from your own computer and also familiarize yourself with using the CFD software in between course sessions. In order to participate in the CFD online course, you will receive a free student license for Cadence Omnis, which you can use for your academic projects at will.
Benefits of attending these sessions:
Minimum qualifications to attend: understanding the basics of fluid mechanics; prior knowledge of CFD is NOT a prerequisite!
Sign up! We cover the cost.
How to register?
REQUEST YOUR LICENSE AND REGISTER HERE
To sign up for the course, request a free student license for Omnis by clicking on the button above. In the request form confirm your wish to participate in the course.

In 8 weeks from theory to practice - 8 live webinars:
Each web meeting starts with a short presentation (approx. 15-30 min.) which provides the theoretical basis for an upcoming exercise. Then follows a live demo where you learn first-hand how to use Omnis to put this theory into practice (approx.15-30 min.).
The content of each online class builds on what was learned in the previous ones. The most important CFD basics will be explained, supplemented with theory from fluid mechanics. As the highlight of this course, in the last class we will demonstrate the CFD workflow of a practical, new CFD project, applying all the content learned so far.
The course content will be recorded and attendees will be provided with the recording. This will give participants more time to work through the topics. Both theory and practice are presented by one of our CFD engineers.
In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in our weekly challenge, where they can autonomously practice their knowledge. Questions will be answered via our forum.
After successful course participation, you will receive a certificate that you can reference in your CV.
Date and time:
Starting October 26th, every Tuesday. There are 3 sessions to choose from:
If the timing of the sessions are not suitable for you, register anyway and we'll look for a solution with you.

Note - supported OS for participation in this course:
If you have the choice between a notebook and a local work station, we recommend to use the work station for the registration of the license. The software is operating in both environments, but the simulation is shorter on the work station.
