This Week in CFD

24 Sep 2021 • Less than one minute read

It's Friday meaning it's time for another roundup of CFD news and detritus from the internet. Three highlights to whet your appetite:

  1. An article about automobile design makes the point that they are now complex systems versus not too long ago when they were mostly mechanisms wrapped around combustion. The ability to accurately and efficiently simulate these complex automotive systems has never been more apparent. Yet, do you think simulation is a "risk free" endeavor in this regard?
  2. The cloud versus on-premise CAE. Is the latter costly, risky, and slow relative to the former? (This is where someone will ask, "Why is CAE the only industry still having this cloud debate?")
  3. How many of the seven wrong beliefs about meshing do you hold?

Just recalling that time when Pointwise was used with CFD codes from CRAFT Tech to simulate wind over an aircraft carrier's deck.

All that and much, much more in This Week in CFD #448 over on Another Fine Mesh.
