Data Center Webinar: Proactive Practices

13 Dec 2023 • 2 minute read

DataCenter Digital Twin model showing streamlines.

When it comes to meeting the expectations surrounding uptime, capacity utilization, and energy efficiency, many data center operators are finding themselves in a relentless cycle of firefighting issues as they arise. Manual processes often aren’t enough to counteract this reactive operations cycle.

We recently held a webinar titled “Proactive Energy Management and Capacity Planning for Today’s Data Centers” that covered how to use digital twin technology to establish more proactive practices. Continue reading this blog for a few key takeaways from the webinar, or you can watch the webinar on-demand.

Automate Your Data Entry Workflow

Data centers are constantly changing during daily operations. While computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis is commonly used during the design stage to predict airflow and temperature distribution in the whitespace, using it during daily operations is still not as commonplace as it should be due to misconceptions surrounding model upkeep. For example, if the data center is constantly changing, how can the digital twin model be kept up to date, so that it can produce relevant predictions, without an impractical commitment of resources?

Luckily, the solution is simple: digital twin models can be kept up to date by establishing an automated data entry workflow through integrations. Cadence data center solutions integrate data feeds from common tools, such as data center infrastructure management (DCIM), CSV spreadsheets, and environmental/power monitoring systems. Cadence data center software can then pull the relevant data to keep the digital twin model up to date. This means the digital twin model is always ready to run predictive scenarios with up-to-date information and minimal direction from operators.

This webinar allows viewers to see our software in action with a demonstration that illustrates the above process and provides a look into how Cadence Reality DC Insight works. The platform is made up of two offerings: Cadence Reality DC Asset Twin and Cadence Reality DC Digital Twin. Our webinar differentiates between the two in more detail, but—briefly—Cadence Reality DC Asset Twin enhances capacity and resource management, while Cadence Reality DC Digital Twin builds on those capabilities with physics-based simulation powered by CFD.

Facilitate Decision-Making with Insights from Cadence Reality DC Digital Twin

Being proactive starts with having the correct information. Through strategic integrations, Cadence data center software simplifies digital twin model upkeep with an automated data entry workflow, making CFD simulation practical for day-to-day operations. Watch the webinar to see how routinely updated CFD analysis facilitates the decision-making process in data center operations.
