A Special Day for Cadence India

A few days ago, Cadence Bangalore, Noida and Pune sites had the opportunity to participate in a worldwide CSR initiative in collaboration with the NGO Rise Against Hunger (RAH). To celebrate our 30th Anniversary as a company, Cadence is partnering with Rise Against Hunger to provide 300,000 meals for communities in need around the globe.

The India sites had committed to packing 80,000 dry meals that were distributed to grassroot NGOs in the various cities. The activity consisted of employee volunteers working in an assembly line of packing, weighing and sealing rice, dal and dried vegetables, along with a nutrition sachet. The recipients cook the rice, dal and vegetables together and sprinkle the contents of the sachet, which provides the vitamins and minerals required to make it a balanced meal, on top.

This volunteering activity turned out to be a huge hit in all the sites. Employees were split into groups, with each group taking up a station. Once the employees got the hang of what needed to be done, they moved like well-oiled machines, quickly falling into a rhythm. The upbeat music helped in keeping the energy levels up, and a friendly competition between stations added spice to the activity. The RAH team had brought a gong that was rung to mark milestones (such as the first 1,000 meals packed, first 5,000, etc) and towards the end some employees were standing in line to ring the gong! The Noida team even took a break and started a Conga line in the middle of the activity to re-energize. In the end, each site comfortably reached its packing goal within about 2-3 hours.

One of the pillars of Cadence’s high performance culture is the One Cadence-One Team spirit, and that was very much in evidence during this volunteer activity. In addition, giving back to the community is an important part of Cadence’s DNA, something that makes working at Cadence special.

As you can see from the pictures, this event brought smiles to not just the faces of the beneficiaries, but to the faces of employees as well.
