Manjunath: Taking No Shortcuts to Success

10 Jan 2023 • 2 minute read

Manjunath's Story

Manjunath is a witty young man with a lot of passion and hunger to succeed.

Manjunath's father works as a carpenter, and his mother is a tailor. Because of an inconsistent income, Manjunath’s parents were unsure if they could support their children's education. They were concerned about funding the engineering course that Manjunath wanted to pursue. That's until a friend told them about the Cadence Scholarship Program. The Scholarship Program came at just the right time and set Manjunath on his road to success.

Manjunath was awarded a full scholarship to study Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering in Bangalore after successfully passing the selection process. Electronics is a challenging subject, and like many others, his cohort had to face the unprecedented challenge of online classes during the pandemic.

The mentorship aspect of the Scholarship Program proved to be extremely beneficial for its scholars, especially during the pandemic when many students were struggling with online classes. The mentors provided the scholars with much-needed support and guidance in dealing with the new online mode of education.

Dr. Rajesh Swami Narayanan was Manjunath's Cadence mentor. Dr. Rajesh has been a pillar in Manjunath's life, guiding him through his academic journey. In particular, Dr. Rajesh worked with Manjunath in developing his soft skills and communication skills. The time and effort that both mentor and mentee put in has paid off, with Manjunath securing a job at Bosch!

After securing his engineering degree, Manjunath's motto has become: “Those who hesitate in their minds will hesitate for life. But those who are determined will conquer even the most inaccessible mountains.” His parents are proud of him and grateful for the guidance he received through the program, which changed not only his life but their lives as well.

Cadence Scholarship Program

Cadence Scholarship Program was introduced six years ago in India, and it aims at addressing the issue of retaining students from underprivileged backgrounds in the academic cycle through funding and support to undertake graduation and professional courses. Over the years, it has benefited more than 400 students across Delhi/NCR, Bangalore, Pune, and Ahmedabad.

The execution and administration of the program is managed by our NGO partners Concern India Foundation (CIF) and Joining Hands. The students are selected through a rigorous process of due diligence carried out by Joining Hands. Concern India Foundation oversees the student’s performance throughout their coursework. Cadence employees in each of these locations volunteer as mentors to help them with their studies, develop their personalities and improve their communication and employability skills.
