Rohit Paliwal - Hardworking Lad With a Clear Vision

2 May 2023 • 2 minute read

Each year, the Cadence Scholarship Program gives scholars a platform to fulfill their dreams and goals without letting their financial instability impede their progress.

Subsequent to my previous blogs about the Cadence Scholarship Program, I bring to you another inspiring story featuring one of our students — Rohit Paliwal.

Rohit, a huge admirer of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, the Indian aerospace scientist and statesman who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007, has always been an academic achiever. Armed with financial backing through the Cadence Scholarship Program, nothing could stop him from achieving success. Rohit standing in front of two model airplanes

Rohit’s family, including his parents and a younger sister, lives in a resettlement colony in South Delhi. When Rohit applied for the scholarship, his father was the sole earner, and their family finances were tight.

However, Rohit scored high in his 12th board exams and received scholarship support from the Delhi government to attend coaching classes to prepare for the engineering entrance exams.

While Rohit was waiting for the entrance exam results, he discovered the Cadence Scholarship Program through an online portal and immediately applied.

After a rigorous selection process, Rohit was selected for the Cadence Scholarship Program. He received a full scholarship to pursue his bachelor’s in technology in mechanical engineering from Delhi Technical University.

Despite spending several hours traveling back and forth to his college, he was ranked first in his class. Seeing Rohit’s excellent academic performance, Cadence decided to support his accommodation expenses so that he could stay closer to his college and continue his studies.

His mentor from Cadence, Mr. Angad Kumar Baranwal, proved to be the perfect fit as a mentor and guide. Having a mentor with a similar technical background helped Rohit share his challenges related to time management and meeting the high demands of a technical course. The guidance from his mentor, as well as Joining Hands, helped Rohit build his resume. During his college years, Rohit interned with Siemens and Go Mechanics simultaneously.

Rohit says, “The Cadence Scholarship Program helped me realize the opportunity to study at Delhi Technical University, which is a dream college for many students. I might have missed this opportunity had I not gotten the scholarship support.”

Having completed his Bachelor of Technology degree, Rohit is currently working as a Business Analyst at NOON (a middle eastern homegrown e-commerce platform launched in 2016) with a generous annual package. But true to his personality, Rohit does not wish to stop here. He’s planning on pursuing an MBA after saving enough money and gaining a year of work experience to ensure a smooth climb up the career ladder. Rohit’s long-term goal is to buy a house for his family and sponsor the cost of his sister’s wedding.

Cadence Scholarship Program

The Cadence Scholarship Program was introduced six years ago in India, and it aims at addressing the issue of retaining students from underprivileged backgrounds in the academic cycle through funding and support to undertake graduation and professional courses. Over the years, it has benefited more than 400 students across Delhi/NCR, Bangalore, Pune, and Ahmedabad.

The execution and administration of the program are managed by our NGO partners Concern India Foundation (CIF) and Joining Hands. The students are selected through a rigorous process of due diligence carried out by Joining Hands. Concern India Foundation oversees the student’s performance throughout their coursework. Cadence employees in each of these locations volunteer as mentors to help them with their studies, develop their personalities and improve their communication and employability skills.
