Story of Preshita Parmar - Cadence Scholarship Program

27 Oct 2025 • 1 minute read

Preshita Parmar began to shape a life grounded in resilience and self-belief in the corridors of a hostel in Gujarat.

The only child of her father—a hostel warden—Preshita lost her mother at a young age. Her father became her anchor, offering emotional strength while shouldering the practical realities of single parenthood. Despite the emotional loss and financial limitations, Preshita pursued her education with determination and clarity of purpose.

She studied under the Right to Education Act at Anand Niketan Satellite School and completed her 12th grade with excellent scores. While many of her peers considered looking for jobs, Preshita remained focused on her long-term goal—to build a career that could offer her stability, dignity, and independence.

The turning point came when she applied to the Cadence Scholarship Program after finishing 12th grade. Beyond financial aid, the program offered something equally crucial—a support system. She found a mentor in Mineeta Chopra, who became a constant source of strength and emotional support during her transition from student life to the professional world.

Today, Preshita works as an associate at the Oberoi Contact Centre (OCC), the centralized reservation hub for Oberoi Hotels in the historic Maidens Hotel in New Delhi. She is steadily gaining experience and confidence. "The Cadence Scholarship Program has not just been a scholarship for me, it's a family," she says. "With the guidance I received, I'm charting a course toward a future full of possibilities."

Cadence Scholarship Program

Introduced eight years ago in India, the Cadence Scholarship Program aims to address the issue of retaining students from underprivileged backgrounds in the academic cycle through funding and support to undertake graduation and professional courses for livelihood. Over the years, it has benefited more than 700 students across Delhi/NCR, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad.

The execution and administration of the program are managed by our NGO partners, Concern India Foundation (CIF) and Joining Hands. The students are selected through a rigorous process of due diligence carried out by Joining Hands. Concern India Foundation oversees the students' performance throughout their coursework. Cadence employees in each of these locations volunteer as mentors to help them with their studies, develop their personalities, and improve their communication and employability skills.
