maintaining the pcell structure in a gds

Hi!!

I have always experienced that when i strmout a gds and stream it in again, the pcells get flattened and the pcell instantiation becomes a cell. Furthermore, the submaster gets converted into a cell master. how do i fix this problem.

 Adhil.

    Adhil,

Because the stream interface is completely new for OpenAccess, and it has not been implemented. It was a lot of effort to implement in the CDB versions of the tools, and as I've said, of limited value given that there is plenty of other information in the layout that is still not preserved even with the keep pcell option (such as connectivity). The advice is to archive the source database, rather than trying to reconstruct it from a stream file plus side files as this then doesn't suffer from loss of information.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
