LogoMaker - improved, and now multi-platform.

Please, please, please follow the instructions fully when installing. They are at the top of the Skill file and also here:

Download and install the precompiled potrace release suitable for your platform:
  http://potrace.sourceforge.net/download
 set the POTRACE_PATH environment variable to the path to the executable
  eg. C:\utils\potrace

 Download and install the precompiled ImageMagick release suitable for your platform
 This may not be necessary if you use Linux as ImageMagick is often included in Linux installations:
  http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php
  eg. http://www.imagemagick.org/download/binaries/ImageMagick-6.5.3-Q16-windows.zip
 If the path to the ImageMagick convert.exe file is not in your system path then set the MAGICK_HOME
 environment variable to the path to the convert executable. (Run "convert -version" in a system shell to test).
  eg. C:\utils\ImageMagick\ImageMagick-6.5.1-3

 Install logoMaker_public.il into your skill folder.
 Add load("logoMaker_public.il") to the allegro.ilinit file in your pcbenv folder.

Happy logoing,

Dave

    It should be working if you followed the instructions. I have tested it in Windows 7.
    I can't see your images to be able to identify the problem.

    You probably want to download potrace-1.9.win32.zip and ImageMagick-6.7.0-Q16-windows.zip

    ;  Installation instructions:

    ;                Download and install the latest precompiled potrace release suitable for your platform:
    ;                                http://potrace.sourceforge.net/download
    ;                set the POTRACE_PATH environment variable to the path to the executable
    ;                                eg. C:\utils\potrace
    ;
    ;                Download and install the latest precompiled ImageMagick release suitable for your platform
    ;                This may not be necessary if you use Linux as ImageMagick is often included in Linux installations:
    ;                                http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php"
    ;                                eg. http://www.imagemagick.org/download/binaries/ImageMagick-6.5.3-Q16-windows.zip
    ;                Set the MAGICK_HOME environment variable to the path to the convert executable.
    ;                                eg. C:\utils\ImageMagick\ImageMagick-6.5.1-3
    ;
    ;                Install logoMaker_public.il into your skill folder.
    ;                Add load("logoMaker_public.il") to the allegro.ilinit file in your pcbenv folder.
    ;
    ;  Running within Allegro:
    ;                Type logomaker in the command window.

    I just successfully installed and used logomaker on two Windows XP machines and wanted to post what worked and didn't work.

     1) %MAGICK_HOME% pointing to "C:/Program Files/ImageMagick-6.7.0-8" wouldn't work, I'm assuming because of the space in the path.  When typing "logomaker" in Allegro, I would get the instructions page instead of the logomaker utility opening.  Placing potrace and imagemagick at "C:/utils/..." did work, though, after I reopened ProjMgr and Allegro.

    2) Loading .jpg files into logomaker, I would recommend unchecking "Preprocess".  I was inserting solid black FCC and Telec logos and using "preprocess" seemed to do an edge detect, whereas I wanted solid logos.

    3) For some reason, once I place the symbols and exit the application, I can't move the symbols.  I do a move command, with Find=Symbol, but when I click the final destination, the symbol snaps back to its original location.

     Jeremy

    The logo symbols are fixed by default. You can unfix them to move. You can also un-tick the "Fix Symbol" check box when placing the symbol. Dave

     How do you "unfix" the symbol?

     Inside the logomaker tool, it looks like I was using the tool without the "fix" button clicked.  When I place the symbol with the "fix" button checked, I can't select the symbol at all, or even 'info' it.

     I'm using Allegro 16.2.
