being brand new to allegro, i have so many questions. I will try to keep it to some simple ones.

how do you turn on the visibility of holes?

can you edit the text size for reference designators once they are placed in the board layout? if so how?

can i create my own drill symbols? if so how?

thanks for your time and efforts on my behalf

First, welcome to Allegro.  I'm not with Cadence so I speak freely.  This is the best tool in the market.  Documentation and training seem to be lacking by most posters on here.  The documentation is sometimes squirrled away but it exists.  Plus this forum and Cadence's support will get you through any troubles.

I'm assuming 16.3?  Setup->Design Parameters (from the menu).  Then on the Display tab you'll see them on the right.

    >>can you edit the text size for reference designators once they are placed in the board layout? if so how?

Yes.  Edit->Change.  Be sure to use the find filter to select text.  Then in the options box you use the "Text block"  to choose which entry from the text table you want to use. Allegro does not use fonts so it's stroke sizes.  The table can be found under Setup->Design Parameters.  Then choose the "Text" tab and then press the "..." button for "Setup Text Sizes".  The sizes are units of your drawing measure.

    >>can i create my own drill symbols? if so how?

Absolutely!!  Many paths to the same solution.  Perhaps the easiest for now is setting them upon output which is done under Manufacture-> NC->Drill Customization

thanks for your time and efforts on my behalf
