Are there any detail drawing or assembly drawing formats available? What I mean by formats is the border with title block and notes.

There are some default Cadence ones avaliable in <your_install_dir>\share\pcb\pcb_lib\symbols called asizeh, asizev, bsize, csize etc. These are just borders though. For notes if you can get a plain text file of what you need use Add - Text, set size and class then click for a start point, right mouse button - read from file and browse for the text file. It will be read in and your notes are created.

I found the formats in the path you specified. I just don't know how to "import" the one I want. Would you be able to walk me through the commands?

Place - Manually then go to the Advanced Settings Tab and make sure Library is checked, the go back to Placement List tab and change the drop down Components by refdes to Format Symbols, the select the format symbol you want to place. If they don't exist make sure that the path mentioned earlier is in your psmpath setting (Setup - User Preferences - Paths - Library - psmpath).

Some users also like to take the basic Cadence drawing symbols and make their own.

Ok, I've gotten done what you suggested. How exactly do I do the actual placement?

This is about placing the notes from a .txt file.

I selected "Add> Text" and I'm asked "Pick Text Location" When I select a location, RMB to "Select from File" and choose the file, I get an error W-(SPMHUT-40) Pick is outside the extent of the drawing.

Is there a way to increase the working area so that I have room for the format and notes?

Also, how does it know the layer I'm addin the format and notes to?
