Create layout directly in Allegro PCB SI

Hello,

Is it possible to create layout directly in Allegro PCB (without having a deal with schematic):

  • create list of nets
  • create geometry objects
  • associate these objects with nets
  • create stackup
  • associate particular net with a stackup layer

The same questions for PowerSI (Sigrity package)

Thanks in advance

    Hi Pavel,

Yes, in Allegro this is possible, Using Part Logic and Net Logic.

For PowerSI, I really do not know. But if you start Allegro with the license feature Allegro Sigrity Si it will also work.

    Regards,

    Johan

    Hi Johan

    Thanks for response.

Sorry, I'm not very familiar with Allegro flow. What are "Part logic" and "Net logic" - particular tools or interface options in Allegro PCB ?

I've already succeded to create nets in Allegro PCB SI (menu Logic, than Create list of nets) and associate my polygons with nets.

Now I'm searching for a possibility to edit stackup, that par default consists of 4 layers (2 conductors (TOP, BOTTOM) one dielectric FR-4 between them and the last layer - AIR). Layout Crossection interface seems doesn't allow to add new layers ...

Also I didn't find a possibility to change the layer of polygon: initially I created it on TOP, but now want to pass it to BOTTOM. Possible ?

    Thanks

    Pavel

Part Logic and Net Logic are menu commands available under the Logic menu that allow you to add components and nets without the need for a schematic. For cross section go to Setup - Cross Section then right click where you want to add a layer and pick Add Layer Above or Below. Set the Type and Material accordingly. To change the layer of a polygon (or Shape) hover over it and use right click - Change to Layer and pick the layer you want.

    Thanks

    Logic menu - Ok

For cross section go to Setup - Cross Section then right click ... - Ok

... hover over it and use right click - Change to Layer and pick the layer you want - I didn't find such option (please, see the image) ... I've tried Change active subclass, but polygone BBB remained on TOP.

One more question - can I add my own materials (both cinductors and dielectrics in Material library)

    Thanks
