The footprint viewer functionality appears to be missing in OrCAD Capture 17.2.  Can anyone else confirm and/or suggest a fix?

Just contacted Cadence again 1/31/2018 and they confirmed it will be integrated again but I wouldn't get your hopes up on a timeline..... smelling a switch to Mentor Slight smile

This is Radhika from Cadence Customer Support. I will be working with you on the case regarding "3D footprint viewer in SPB 17.2 ".

Good to hear from you, hope you are doing well.

Aric, you are right. CCR is in inactive state however as per my discussion 3D Footprint viewer is confirmed to be integrated again with capture however when it is going to be done is yet to be decided.

In order to prioritize it I have filed duplicate CCR for the same, for your reference CCR ID is CCMPR01872574.

Please let me know how to proceed on this case now.

     Looking forward to your reply.

HI All update on this thread - Cadence have now released the Show Footprint command in a new format. You need 17.2-2016 S038 or later to get it. If you have used the tcl file above you need to rename the file capFootprintViewer.tcl to .old or move it away from the capAutoLoad directory, then restart Capture, select a part and right click - Show Footprint and the new viewer will be there.
