Orcad Capture ver 17.2

If I have Orcad capture schematic ver 17.2, can others open it with 16.6?

  • Yes, 17.2 Capture DSN files can be opened with 16.6 Capture. I only don't know if specific 17.2 settings (like new hierarchical annotation settings) are lost when opening and saving the DSN in 16.6.

  • Our company is considering to move from Orcad Capture 16.6(hotfix 048) to 17.2(hotfix 031). Seems like one can open 17.2 designs in 16.6, but I wonder if there could be some pitfalls when doing this? Is it 100% safe to move between these two versions?

    We are using CIS database.

    Does someone know about any major bugs/flaws that were introduced with 17.2 and not yet has been fixed? In other words, is there a risk of moving from 16.6 to 17.2? ;)

    My questions are only related to Orcad schematic design(Orcad Capture), not layout.
