Export physical error

Hello Cadence community!

I am performing an export physical (from CPM to MCM) and the operation is aborted because of the following error:

"Error: Schematic supports automatically creating XNets using DML but the Layout will not automtically create any XNets. Change setting in Layout or Schematic, re-generate files, and re-run the flow".

Can you help me understanding how I can change the settings mentioned in the above error? I am not using nor intend to use XNets in my design.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Paolo

I am experiencing this same error message when exporting physical from DE HDL to an existing board file. I selected "overwrite constraints" but it still aborts on this error. I am not intending to do anything with xnets. Did you find a solution?

It sounds like somehow the design got labeled to generate XNets without the need of assigning DML Files but it can be reverted back to using DML Models to generate XNets.

Not sure how you got in this state but I may have a workaround to get you moving again.

    1. Add the following to your <normally home folder>/PCBENV/ENV file:  set CDS_XNET_STATE_UI=1
    2. Restart the tool and open Constraint Manager
    3. In Constraint Manager, select Tools > Options and enable the option "Create XNets and Differential Pairs using DML Models (same as SPB16.6)"
    4. Save the design to a new name and try running the flow again.

I intentionally stated to save the design to a new name so you have a back-up before making any changes running the flow. :-)

NOTE: If there are any XNets that are auto-generated in the design, without DML assignments, they will be removed after running the flow. (It sounds like you don't have any XNets anyway but I figured I would mention it)

    Hope this helps,

    Mike Catrambone
