Intertool Communication

I loaded the latest Hotfix this morning 048 and now my intertool communications does not work.

Checked to make sure "Enable Intertool Communications" is still checked, it is.

I select the place command in PCB Designer Professional and then select a part in Capture and nothing happens.

I had no problem before I installed 048.  Is this a problem with 048 or did I go brain dead?

Thanks,

Old Guy

Try re-syncing the netlist and make sure all the directories are correct.  If this bug persists then open a ticket with Cadence.

    Add below env variable

    unset UNIQUE_MPS_SESSION

Allegro is now using a Unique MPS session when launched stand alone.

In order to get the old behavior when Capture would talk to ANY Layout editor, the user can UNSET the variable UNIQUE_MPS_SESSION from the env file.

I did try re-netlisting and back annotating several times and switched to a different project to make sure it was not project related.

I know it was working before the Hotfix update because I was showing a new designer how to place parts the day before.

    Hi rpawar,

Would you elaborate on how this has to be done (User or System Variable)?  I went to System Properties/Advanced/System Variables and put a User variable in as you instructed and it has not fixed the problem. ("UNIQUE_MPS_SESSION" is the Variable and "UNSET" is the Value)

The IT guy put the same variable in the System variables but it did not transfer into my login.

Your help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

This is a PCB Editor variable not a user or system one. Close PCB Editor and open a File Explorer window, in the address bar type %HOME% followed by a return then go into the pcbenv folder. In here is a file called env. Open this with a text editor and add the line unset UNIQUE_MPS_SESSION above the ###User Preferences Section then save and restart PCB Editor.
