Ratsnest Display does not work right if Slide Etch is enabled during a "Move or Drag operation" Allegro 17.2 S047 - Allegro 16.5

A few pictures to explain

Symbols with ratsnest on before a move operation "Looks OK"

Next Slide Etch is enabled, R3 is selected and moved "Rats disappear on R3. This is the inverse of Rats on. If rats are on and a component is moved all rats remain on but nets for r3 will become dynamic and move to indicate a good placement location. See Pic below. This is working this way only if "Slide Etch" is enabled.

Changing things around a little. This time Rats are turned off and R3 is moved, Rats show as expected. "Notice Slide Etch is un checked"

Last picture shows a move operation if rats are off and slide etch is enabled. "No rats turn on everything is blank" Expectation is for rats on R3 to turn on.

Something seems wrong with this. Slide Etch enabled is having a negative impact on how the rats are displayed depending on the rats mode either Rats On or Rats off.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks.. Paul.

Slide etch is more for when you have a routed net v a ratsnest (its the same for Stretch etch as well) but if you feel this is incorrect raise a case with the Channel Partner / Cadence support. It has "always" done this though for as long as I can remember and dies make sense since both of these checkboxes are for routed etch.

I constantly enable/disable the Slide Etch option. In my opinion there is no reason for Allegro to hide the rats when moving components. It’s illogical and unproductive. The functions of rat display and etch behavior are mutually exclusive.

Hi Steve, you are correct that this function has worked this way for along time. Slide Etch is very useful as Lou pointed out. Perhaps i'm being a little picky, but Consistency I think is important.
When your editing and depending on a "Rat Display" to give you a visual cue and BAM it's gone if your in slide etch mode that hardly seems credible to me because if you are not in slide-etch mode then the rats work as expected.

Not to belabor the point but its like your going down the road in your car and you have a green Light so you proceed to go through the intersection, then all of a sudden you get pulled over by a cop that informs you "Sir you ran a Green Light" Slight smile , Don't make alot of sense IMHO.

I think if the folks at Cadence keep an eye on this list then they should take the lead and add this in as an item to get resolved.

    All the best. Paul.
