How do we prevent black box 3D models for footprints?

Hello

We have some components on our PCB that has no step file associated because they are simply just pads. How do we prevent OrCAD from adding black boxes with the default comp height on the footprint in the 3D viewer?

Regards

You can't prevent them because every part has a PLACE_BOUND shape by default but you don't need to display them. In the 3d Canvas look under Setup - Preferences - Symbol Representation and enable Only the Step Model

    Thanks, that did the trick!

If component hight is needed and there are no Step models available, package_hight property can be defined for the PLACE_BOUND sub class. There can be several shapes on this class each with their individual height defined. Useful if no Step model is available and some means of a 3D representation is required.

I set PACKAGE_HEIGHT_MAX for the boundry shape to 0 mm, and it also seems to do the trick.

    Piggybacking onto this post -

How do we keep the "black boxes" from showing up in the IDF or STEP output for components that have no STEP model associated with them?
