How do we prevent black box 3D models for footprints?

Hello

We have some components on our PCB that has no step file associated because they are simply just pads. How do we prevent OrCAD from adding black boxes with the default comp height on the footprint in the 3D viewer?

Regards

Hey, couldn't this be a setting in the export tool instead?

    Steve,

Discovered that this IDF_EXCLUDE is only available in the Edit Properties command in 17.2. The board I'm currently working with is in 16.6 and needs to stay in 16.6 for now.

Our ME worked around the problem by trimming the place bound towers down in Solid Works after importing the IDF.

I don't understand why the place bound is utilized in this manner other then just to indicate that there is no part model associated. Seems kind of silly to me, but this isn't the first time I thought something was silly................

Mysil B's suggestion is a good one, make it an option

    Thanks for the help!

    Tom

"Hey, couldn't this be a setting in the export tool instead?"  Yes, it's in the IDF export filter already however I would disagree with the philosophy.  We have to work with customer libraries that fail to have component height correctly assigned and we set the IDF export filter to 2m tall (LOL!).  It's amazing how fast an ME can complain about his own company's libraries when we send the IDF with a "tall" part in it.  Once the customer corrects the part then the IDF is OK.

In the past when we "corrected" their height issues a real problem got masked.

So my experience says fix the library and then there won't be an issue in IDF export. :)

Which one of these is it? The shape is generated by the place_bound shape if I understand this correctly.
